Here are this week’s nominees for the Section 1 Girls Flag Football Player of the Week Award. Vote now! Poll closes at 8 pm on Wednesday, May 17.

Elizabeth Wallace, Yonkers: Is it time to start calling it “Wallace Island” in Yonkers? The standout defensive back has been the shutdown corner in Section 1, especially of late. Wallace recorded 5 interceptions against Byram Hills, 2 more INT’s against Eastchester and then 2 against the Trailblazers as Yonkers improved to 8-7.

Ella Pontiero, Somers: Pontiero continues to carry the Tuskers offense. Against top ranked Scarsdale. She threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 48 yards and an extra point. Against Lakeland, Pontiero threw for 56 yards and ran for 48.

Samantha Moscati, Lakeland: Opposing ball carriers are learning to run away from Moscati as she’s dominated up front for the Hornets. Moscati had 15 tackles in two games last week – 13 of which were for loss. Moscati leads Lakeland with 80 tackles on the season.

Perry Ertel, Byram Hills: The sophomore star has emerged as a dynamic passer for the Bobcats. Ertel threw six touchdown passes and ran for one in wins over Peekskill, Hastings and the comeback thriller over Clarkstown.

Michelle Tiso, Eastchester: Tiso has been among the elite players in Section 1 all season in Flag Football. The star led the Eagles to a pair of shutout wins last week over Ossining and the Trailblazers. She then passed for 246 yards and a touchdown in Monday’s win over Clarkstown.
