Vote now: Section 1 Girls Flag Football Player of the Week (April 17-22)

Week 2 in the voting for the Section 1 Girls Flag Football Player of the Week is here. Nominations were submitted by coaches and are based on games played April 17-22. Vote runs through 7 pm on Tuesday, April 25.

The nominees for this week:

Deanna Lage, Lakeland: In 2 games last week, Lage accounted for 7 total touchdowns (5 passing, 1 rushing, and 1 receiving). She also had a combined total yards of 328 in those games. On the season, Lage currently has over 1,000 total yards on the season and 18 total touchdowns.

Chloe Gabriele, Somers: Gabriele shined in the Tuskers’ three games this past week. Against Yonkers, she had three receptions, two extra points, seven tackles and four sacks. Versus Clarksotwn, Gabriele ran for 63 yards total, including a 43-yard touchdowns, and record two flag pulls. Against Byram Hills, she had a 45-yard interception return, ran for 27 yards and a touchdown, an extra point and had two tackles.

Eve Girardi, Tappan Zee: The standout helped make history for the Lady Dutchmen last week. Girardi accounted for all four touchdowns, including an 80-yard TD catch, in a 28-27 win over Somers for the program’s first ever victory in Flag Football. In a 14-14 tie with Mahopac, Girardi scored both of Tappan Zee’s touchdowns.

Michelle Tiso, Eastchester. The star quarterback quarterback led Eastchester to a breakthrough week. The Eagles went 3-0, highlighted by an upset of defending section champion Brewster. In those games, Tiso completed 27 of 42 passes for 482 yards and five touchdowns.

Sarah Weissman, Clarkstown: Weissman led Clarkstown to a perfect 3-0 week defeating Somers, Peekskill and Poughkeepsie. The quarterback threw for over 400 yards on the week with 10 touchdown passes, a 64-yard touchdown run. She also had 6 extra point point and an extra point run.

Adrianna Quishpe, Yonkers: The star from YMA had two rushing touchdowns in a win over Poughkeepsie, including one on the first play from scrimmage for a 45-yard score. She finished with 165 rushing yards in the win. Against Peekskill, Quishpe had all of Yonkers’ three touchdowns; two 30-yard scored and one from 45 yards out with 1:44 to go to ice the win.
