Vote of the Player of the Week: Section 1 Girls Flag Football (April 10-16)

Welcome to the first ever Section 1 Girls Flag Football Player of the Week voting! Take a look at this week’s nominees and vote in the poll below. The nominations were provided by coaches and are based on games played April 10-16. The poll will close at 7 pm on Tuesday evening (April 18).

Player of the Week nominees:

Sam Del Ponte, Lakeland: The freshman star ran for 111 yards and had 11 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns in three games on the week. She also added three interceptions on defense, one she returned for a touchdown.

Kiara Williams, Panas: The safety has been sensational on the defensive side of the ball for the Panthers. In three games last week, Williams had eight flag pulls and four interceptions, one she returned for a touchdown in a 12-6 win over rival Lakeland.

Marie Camastro, Mahopac: In two games for Mahopac, Camastro piled up 152 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries, and also caught two passes for 25 yards. She recorded 10 flag pulls in the secondary. To date, Camastro has 435 total yards and six touchdowns.

Bre Washington, Brewster: The Bears went 3-0 on the week and didn’t allow a point in large part to the play of Washington on both sides of the ball. She ran for four touchdowns, threw for two more and had a combined seven conversions. Washington had 14 flag pulls, including five for loss, as Brewster outscored its three opponents 93-0 on the week.

Ivy Boockvar, Scarsdale:
The junior quarterback continued to shine for the Raiders, passing for 235 yards and three touchdowns, and also returned an interception for a score as Scarsdale improved to 3-0 on the season.
