Matt Fitzsimons threw five touchdown passes, including three to fellow senior Ravi Dass, as Somers secured its second straight trip to the Dome.
The Tuskers blew past Section 2 champion Niskayuna, 35-7, in the NYSPHSAA Class A semifinal on Friday night at Middletown High School. Fitzsimons, who led Somers (11-0) to the state final last year, will look to avenge last year’s heartbreaker when they take on Section 4 champ Union-Endicott on Saturday in Syracuse.
Fitzsimons passed for 219 yards on the night. Dass caught six passes for 89 yards and three scores. Nick Conti and Luke Savino each had touchdown catches in the win.
Somers lost to Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse) in last year’s state final, 32-31.
