Somers is headed back to Syracuse.
The Tuskers beat Section 1 rival Rye on Friday night for the second time in three weeks, this time in the NYSPHSAA Class A semifinals at Middletown High School, 14-7. Somers, which defeated Rye in an epic Section 1 title game 26-22 two weeks ago, will play Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse in the Class A state final next Friday at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.

Anthony Mancuso scored the winning touchdown with five minutes remaining on a 57-yard pass from Matt Fitsimons, snapping a 7-7 tie. Mancuso had three catches for 79 yards in the game while Fitzsimons passed for 81 yards. Ravi Dass ran for 104 yards on seven carries, highlights by an 85-yard first-quarter touchdown.
Caden Whaling scored Rye’s lone touchdown on a pass from Owen Kovacs in the second quarter.
Ethan Krauss led Somers (12-0) with 10 tackles. Johnny Crecco had six tackles, including a sack and three for loss for Somers, which recorded five sacks in the game.
