Shion Darby became the first Peekskill basketball player since Elton Brand in 1997 to receive the Section 1’s Mr. Basketball award, which was revealed at the annual Lower Hudson Basketball Coaches Association banquet on Tuesday night.

Darby highlighted the evening, which honored the top players from the 2018-19 season. Darby averaged 25 points, five rebounds and five assists as a senior and finished his career with 1,558 points.

The rest of the All-LHBCA first team was also revealed: Davontrey Thomas, Poughkeepsie; Chris Melis, Horace Greeley; Nick Townsend, Horace Greeley; Will Krebs, Suffern; Troy Hupstead, Mount Vernon.
