Video: Dobbs Ferry, Blind Brook rally in 2nd half for semifinal wins

Day 2 of Championship Week at the Westchester County Center featured three more dramatic finishes in a quadruple-header of action.

After the Somers girls stormed past second-seeded Panas in the Class A semifinal opener, 39-27, top-seeded Tappan Zee slipped past rival Pearl River, 38-35, on a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Both Class B boys matchups featured heart-pounding second-half comebacks. No. 8 Woodlands led Dobbs Ferry for most of their semifinal before the Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter.

Lester McCarthy sparked the comeback, scoring all 15 of his points in the second half, including three 3-pointers. Zach Holzman added 14 and Damani Fraser scored 13. Tevaun Holness scored 11 off the bench and Dimaunie Meredith had all nine of his points in the fourth quarter.

Ta’shaan Lewis scored 14 and Noe Fleurimond had 13 for Woodlands, which led by four at the half and took a 46-43 lead into the fourth.

Dobbs Ferry moved to the Section 1 Class B championship game with a comeback win over Woodlands on Tuesday night.

No. 3 Blind Brook trailed by 14 points late in the fourth quarter but stormed to a stunning win over second-seeded Valhalla. Ryan Aiello scored 17, Christopher Bucci had 14 and Zachary Zimmerman made two free throws with 4.8 seconds left to put the Trojans ahead.

Blind Brook’s five starters accounted for all 58 of the team’s points. Trojans managed just 12 points in the second and third quarters combined before outscoring Valhalla 25-14 in the fourth.
