Empire Invitational brings major talent to showcase at Iona Prep, Mount St. Michael

Dozens of the region’s elite basketball recruits will take the court this weekend in the Empire Invitational, a two-day, eight-game showcase.

Westtown (Pa), Brewster Academy, Roselle Catholic (NJ) and Ranney School (NJ) headline this year’s event, which begins with two games on Saturday at Iona Prep and six games on Sunday at Mount St. Michael.

All games will be streamed live on LocalLive.tv and will be available free to all viewers.

The event tips off on Saturday with Long Island prep power Lawrence Woodmere and star center Aidan Igiehon, a Louisville commit.

Iona Prep faces Wings Academy at 4:40 p.m. in Saturday’s second contest. Check out Iona Prep’s channel on LocalLive.tv.

The premier game of the event is Sunday’s showdown of national powers Westtown (Pa) and Brewster Academy (NH). Westtown features Jalen Gaffney, a UConn commit, and John Bol Ajak, a Syracuse signee. Check out Westtown’s channel on LocalLive.tv here. Free registration required.

But Westtown up against a Brewster Academy squad five senior Division I commits: by Jalen Lecque (NC State), Alonzo Gaffney (Ohio St), Kai Jones (Texas), Anthony Walker (Miami) and Joel Brown (Cal).

On the local scene, Stepinac and Roselle Catholic highlights the Sunday schedule at Mount St. Michael in a rematch of last year’s New York and New Jersey state champions. Check out Stepinac’s channel on LocalLive.tv. Free registration required.
