Aidan Cunney was fouled with 0.3 seconds remaining and calmly sank all three free throws to lead Tappan Zee to a heart-pounding 49-46 win over Horace Greeley in its season opener on Wednesday night.

Cunney scored 18 points in the win.

Greeley freshman Nick Townsend tied the game with a pair of free throws with 4.3 seconds left. Tappan Zee inbounded and pushed the ball up the floor to Cunney. Christopher Melis blocked Cunney’s first 3-point attempt but the ball bounced back to Cunney, who was fouled on a last-second heave.

Townsend led the Quakers with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Melis added 15 points.
