PLAAYoff highlights: Pleasantville runs away from Westlake for fourth straight crown

It took for Pleasantville to lose its lead in the third quarter in Wednesday’s Section 1 championship for the real Pleasantville team to finally show up.

The Panthers fell behind by a goal to rival Westlake in the third quarter of the Class D final before ripping off 10 straight scores. They bolted to a 14-6 win at Lakeland High School to secure their fourth straight Section 1 title.

Jack Howe scored four goals, Declan McDermott had three and Brian Reda, Jake Coleman and James Daniele each added two goals and two assists as Pleasantville dethroned Westlake, the reigning Class D champs, after winning the previous three years in Class C.

Dylan Donnery and Ryan Donnery each scored twice for Westlake, which took a 5-4 lead late in the third quarter on a Rob DiNota goal. The Panthers followed with 10 in a row to storm to a second win over Westlake this season.
