Eastchester started its Section 1 Class C playoff matchup with Edgemont with a fury on Friday afternoon. And the Eagles closed out the victory with a bang.
Joe Michalski scored three unanswered goals in the opening quarter before capping off the win with the team’s second goal in seven seconds as seventh-seeded Eastchester knocked off neighboring rival Edgemont, 6-4, at home.

Michalski had four goals and an assist, Kevin Donovan had three assists and Ryan Allen scored twice for Eastchester, which will travel to No. 2 Rye in the Class C quarterfinals on Monday.
Eastchester took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter before tenth-seeded Edgemont clamped down on Michalski in the second. Mark Perlman scored a pair of goals before halftime and Matteo Scarelli (11 saves) was terrific in the cage as Edgemont went into the break down 3-2.

Ryan Gordon cut Eastchester’s lead to 4-3 late in the third before setting up Perlman with 9:34 left to tie the game at 4-4. Gordon assisted on all three Perlman goals.
But Allen put Eastchester back ahead with a goal and, off a faceoff win, Michalski raced down the field and scored again to pad the Eagles’ lead.
Joe Taylor made seven saves for Eastchester.
