The Final Day (Maybe) of Section 1 boys lacrosse – What to watch for

L-P attackman JoJo Janavey is among the most prolific scorers in Rebels history and is poised for monster senior year. This is it: The final day of the regular season in Section 1 boys lacrosse season.

Unless it rains so bad they have to push games to Wednesday.

Either way, 40 teams in Section 1 will play their last game before the seeds officially come out later this week of the playoffs start on Friday in Class B and C.

BRACKETOLOGY: Section 1 Boys Lacrosse

Class A Results and Projected Bracket
Class B Results and Projected Bracket
Class C Results and Projected Bracket
Class D Results and Projected Bracket

Here’s Tuesday’s schedule of games, which will be updated throughout the afternoon and evening:

Below is what you need to know entering the final day of the Section 1

Here are the 3 most important things you need to know

1. The 1 seeds are a wrap. Nothing can really happen on the final day that can impact the teams at the top. Mamaroneck is well ahead as the top seed in the Class A bracket. John Jay-CR will be the 1 seed in Class B, Hen Hud should finish atop Class C even with a loss to Ardsley and Pleasantville has run away from the pack Class D.

2.  Albertus Magnus is the last team that can still qualify. As of tonight, there are 51 teams in Section 1 and 47 of them have qualified for the playoffs. The last remaining is in Class D with Albertus Magnus, which is on the cusp of reaching the 26 points needed for entry (every win is worth 4 points plus Bonus Points).

Albertus needs to either win its final game, vs Nanuet, or get 4 BPs from other opponents. Dobbs Ferry needs 4 more points, as well, but has no games remaining.

Pawling is acutally 14th in the standings behind Albertus, although the Falcons have not qualified. If Albertus doesn’t reach 26 points, Pawling will move up to the No. 13 seed regardless of the Ratio.

NOTE: Bonus Points for qualifying are based on an opponents OVERALL record. Seeding BPs are based on their Section 1 record)

3. Five teams that can clinch Bonus Points for their opponents with wins:

White Plains
Record: 7-8
Opponent: Pearl River

Harrison
Record: 10-3 vs Section 1 (win makes them +2)
Opponent: Eastchester

Ardsley
Record: 11-4 (win makes them +2)
Opponent: Hen Hud (14-1)

Pelham
Record: 6-6 vs Section 1
Opponent: New Rochelle

Briarcliff
